Beach Day Essentials

by Rebecca Bertone

July 19th, 2017

What's summer without a trip or two to the beach? Whether you live near one or have to make a road trip out of it, there are some beach day essentials everyone can agree on! The first one? Packing it in a cute bag, that's easy to carry, so you don't have to keep hiking back to the car all day. The second? Making sure you have everything you need so you can go from shopping, to tanning, to dinner. Our Beach Bag collection has everything you need to help you slay your beach day.

Sunscreen is the most important thing you can throw in your beach bag! We’re totally obsessed with Sun Bum’s Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion! SPF 50 is a must for us too! Sometimes, sunscreen can feel a bit too greasy for your face, so we go for Neutrogena’s Clear Face lotion. Totally worth picking up an extra sunscreen to prevent breakouts and redness. If you’re looking for a more sporty option, or something a little quicker than a lotion. Coppertone Continuous Spray Sport stays on all day and gives great sun protection.

Did you know that your lips can get sunburn too? If you’re lucky enough to have never experienced it, we’re jealous. It’s THE WORST. Luckily, Sun Bum knows a thing or two about sun protection and has a great lip balm with SPF 30. They’re a few tinted options too that help you go from laying out to going out, without needing to pack extra makeup. Score!

We swear we’re not trying to be your mom, but sun protection is just so important. Protect your eyes in style with a cute pair of polarized sunglasses. We tend to gravitate towards to O.G. RayBans (the Erika style is currently our fav) but anything with a good, polarized lens will do the trick!

So, you’ve got all your SPFs and polarized necessities...now what? Tanning! Duh. We like to do a little good, whenever we can, which is why we totally love SandCloud towels. They donate 10% of their profits to select non-profits that help save marine life. Also, they’re way cute.

Whether you’re bringing iced coffee, water, or “juice,” to the sand, a Hydro Flask will keep it cold all day long. And we mean All. Day. Long. They have tons of sizes and options for you to choose from. So, pack for yourself in a 16oz, or bring some for everyone in a 40oz.

When it’s time to pack it in for the day and head to dinner, there are a few things you can bring along to avoid going home to get ready. After sun lotion is an awesome way to rehydrate your skin, cool a burn, and make your tan last. Sun Bum and Hawaiian Tropic both make awesome lotions that go on silky smooth and smell awesome!

Hair time! Batiste Dry Shampoo is still our favorite, especially is a little rogue sunscreen spray hit your hair. It comes in a travel size that’s perfect for the beach. Comb it through with the Agave Healing Oil Smooth and Shine Paddle Brush, toss it in a top knot with an Emi-Jay no crease hair tie and a few curved bobby pins, and you just went from beach hair don’t hair to flawless.

No one wants to put makeup on a greasy face. Toss Neutrogena Naturals facial wipes in your bag to help get off the excess sunscreen and leave you feeling fresh faced! If you need an extra hydration boost, Evian facial spray is perfect!

We like to keep our beach day makeup super simple. Burt’s Bees BB Cream is the perfect base! It provides sun protection, hydration, and the perfect amount of coverage after a day in the sun. We top it off with a little Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Powder using our e.l.f. Flawless Face brush. It’s the perfect amount to let our sun kissed skin shine through. We top it off with a little Maybelline “The Colossal” mascara and our Sun Bum Tinted Lip Balm, and we’re headed to dinner.

We love that all these products are small and light, or can be purchased in a travel size, so we’re not totally weighed down by a giant beach bag. There’s nothing better than a day at the beach and we want you to make the most of yours!
